![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In spite of the obvious tokusatsu influences, the Massive-Verse has always found ways to separate itself from the more one-dimensional homages to the genre that exist in the same space. On top of that, it firmly cements the tone for the Massive-Verse's future and its heroes, and it subverts many of the already uncertain expectations that fans have built up around it. This raised the stakes and sets the stage for future confrontations that are bound to spill over from Earth and into the realm of Existence in ways that have yet to be explored. Thankfully, the Colossals weren't willing to follow through on murdering countless worlds forever, leading them to rebel against the directives handed down to them by creating a new way of thinking for themselves.Īt least, that is the case for all but the Yellow Colossal, who openly espoused their disdain for the new way before lashing out by taking over Radiant Yellow and forcing him to attack his allies before taking his own life. Also good, the franchise now has a singular big bad, an ultimate evil called Premier that the heroes will need to overthrow, the one who lords over all Radiants and, presumably, the Colossals that allowed them to exist in the first place. Now that the truth at the heart of the Massive-Verse has been unveiled, fans have a much better idea of what to expect going forward. This isn't to say that these other Massive-Verse series haven't had plenty to offer readers, but rather that the few loose ties to the franchise's overarching mythology largely served to expand upon the wider mystery at hand instead of providing any firm answers to the questions surrounding it. Beyond that, it also brings the events of Radiant Black and its numerous sister series like Radiant Pink and Inferno Girl Red into focus with a clarity that simply wasn't there before. This revelation alone turns the Massive-Verse on its head considering that it was inspired by the likes of Mighty Morphin Power Rangersand other entries into the tokusatsu genre. As such, the Colossals ended up being sealed away in Existence by the very fabric of the universe itself but even that didn't stop them from finding a way to reach beyond the veil that held their physical forms back. Much like what their cold, calculating demeanors might convey, the Colossals hail from a self-proclaimed divine order tasked with judging various worlds across the universe in the name of the Catalyst Empire. Though these Colossals have served as guides, or even mentors of sorts to their human avatars along the way, their true purpose is far darker than that. Like all Radiants, Nathan and Marshall derive their powers from coming into contact with the isolated black hole that formed their connections to their respective Colossal. ![]()
