![]() ![]() The reason you won’t find these here is because I’m an ukulele teacher. But this doesn’t mean they are a great song for beginners. There are a certain number of famous songs that get thrown onto other easy song lists because they’re well known. Two Songs That Aren’t Easy (But are on Other Lists) If you are trying to play it all at once with brute determination and thinking power, you might be able too, but it will feel way harder than it should. The idea is to get everything running on autopilot in one form or another. Once everything is easy separately, start adding pieces together – strum (muted) and sing or strum and hold chords. Then sing through the song without trying to play. Then take a look at a simple strum without trying to hold chords. Get familiar with the chords first – look them up (if you need a chord chart, click here), write them down, learn to finger them. If you try and do everything at once you’re going to struggle. It really helps to break a song down by chords, strum, and vocals. It’s a clever way of seeing how learning just a single chord can allow you to play a ton more songs. If you want even more ideas for some easy uke songs, there is a great collection on Uke Hunt arranged by chords used. Dennis Kamakahi about the Kalalau area on Kaua’i.

Once you’re done with the lot, press the dedicated off button on the very top of the remote and it takes care of the rest. If I want to swap to the Amazon Fire TV, I hit that button and it switches the input on the amp, switches off the satellite box and we’re off. I then get a custom remote to change volume with the amp, switch channels with the satellite box and activate picture-in-picture with the TV. For me that’s the amp, the satellite box and the TV, all set to the right input and mode automatically. Hit “Watch TV” on the touchscreen for instance, and it’ll turn on everything needed for watching TV and set a starting channel. The smartphone app also works as a full remote, with the volume buttons being able to control the TV’s volume, for instance. The remote has its own charging dock into which it slots when not in use, but will last a good week or so between charges if you so wish. The top third of the Elite is a 2.4in colour touchscreen for choosing devices, selecting favourite channels or activities, or for setting off custom commands that are not bound to physical buttons. All these things should be a given for a remote costing as much as a television, but other solutions costing similar amounts fail on this fundamental level. The remote has a heft to it without being heavy and the soft-grip back makes it easy to hold on to. It is easy to reach all the buttons, and they have a nice, responsive feel to them. There are remotes for show and there are remotes for using, and this is the latter. It is one of the best designed, most comfortable to use remotes I have had the pleasure to hold. You have the remote, the hub and the app. There three elements to the Logitech Harmony Elite. If your home theater (and/or smart home) setup isn’t inordinately complex, one of the other remotes on this list might make for a better buy.The Elite in its charging dock with the Harmony Hub to the right. The bad news: At nearly twice the price of the Companion, you have to really think hard about whether the very high cost of the Elite is worthwhile. Finally, the remote includes a rechargeable battery and a docking station, so you’re much less likely to lose it. The Hub and Companion must be physically plugged into your computer to sync if you configure them through Windows not so with the Elite. Second, and this is the biggie, you can sync changes wirelessly, by tapping a command in the settings function of the remote itself. First, it can control up to 15 devices, while the Hub and Companion are both limited to eight. Bottom lineĪside from the touchscreen control, the Elite offers a few other nice upgrades over the Companion and Hub. It was so much simpler to use a real remote control to watch Hulu via my Xbox One instead of having to deal with the clumsy Xbox game controller that I may never look back. That said, for the most part, working with the remote is straightforward and can even be fun. In single-device mode, there’s no way to map buttons to another device, even though, in this example, the volume buttons don’t do anything when controlling the cable box. For example, I found I often switched to manual control of my cable box, but this locked out the volume controls that are routed through my receiver. If you need to dig into a more complicated setting, it’s easy to switch to single-device control by selecting the specific product you want to command, but this locks you out of simultaneously controlling anything else. Things get a bit hairier if you need to delve past the commands you’ve designed specifically for your actions. LogitechĪ spacious touchscreen makes key shortcuts easy to find. (Though, of course, you can do both of those things if you so desire.) For each action, the commands that appear on the touchscreen are fully customizable, so you can drop in commercial skip buttons, extra volume controls, or just about anything else. ![]() ![]() Jumping between HBO and Comedy Central is a one-tap affair, with no need to resort to the guide channel or tap in a bunch of digits. Switching channels is a snap: You can set up to 50 favorites, which appear as icons on the display. Your devices fire up in quick succession without any additional effort. It doesn’t get much more intuitive than picking up the remote-which wakes on motion-and tapping “Watch TV,” which instantly appears at the top of the color screen. The Elite shines when you are interacting with the touchscreen. ![]() ![]() ![]() Barrymore does at least look like Holmes, but he doesn’t act like him. In fact, it’s a remarkably dull film, not helped by the overuse of intertitles – look away for just one and you’ll be completely lost (you might get lost anyway!) – and a rather vapid performance by Barrymore. None of this would be quite so bad if it was exciting, intriguing, mildly interesting, or if the plot even made sense. It starts off with Holmes and Watson at university, where they first encounter Moriarty, and ends (wait for it) with Holmes getting married – well, I guess that romantic lead John Barrymore could never be left single at the end of a film. John Barrymore stars in the 1922 film, which is likely to have purists running for the hills. My understanding is that the same can be said of the William Gillette Holmes film, which was found a few years back, but I have yet to see that. Hype generally gets built up about the famous lost films – most notably London After Midnight – and they are rather inevitably not as good as the myth would lead us to believe. It is very much a case of a lost film being found and turning out to be a very ordinary film. I have seen the DVD, which looks reasonably decent given the history of the film, although the screencaps online of the blu ray look decidedly better. And a further restoration of that is now on blu ray. ![]() This was then painstakingly restored over the years, and a restoration of that restoration found it’s way on to DVD in the early 2000s. The film was lost for a number of decades, only to be found literally in pieces in the early 1970s – not only were the sequences out of order, but multiple takes of each scene were also found. Both of them are slight, but never take themselves seriously.Īnyway, being in a Holmes mood, I thought it would be a good time to finally watch the 1922 Sherlock Holmes starring John Barrymore – and with early appearances by William Powell and Louis Wolheim, among others. I realise, thirty years on, that not all of the stories in the collection are classics, and oddly I have enjoyed more the ones that I had forgotten about, like The Blue Carbuncle and the very silly The Engineer’s Thumb. I have been treating myself over the last week to re-reading The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, which I last consumed when I was about sixteen. John Barrymore looking for a decent film. ![]() ![]() To learn more about how and for what purposes Amazon uses personal information (such as Amazon Store order history), please visit our Privacy Notice. On top of that, it firmly cements the tone for the Massive-Verse's future and its heroes, and it subverts many of the already uncertain expectations that fans have built up around it. This raised the stakes and sets the stage for future confrontations that are bound to spill over from Earth and into the realm of Existence in ways that have yet to be explored. Thankfully, the Colossals weren't willing to follow through on murdering countless worlds forever, leading them to rebel against the directives handed down to them by creating a new way of thinking for themselves.Īt least, that is the case for all but the Yellow Colossal, who openly espoused their disdain for the new way before lashing out by taking over Radiant Yellow and forcing him to attack his allies before taking his own life. Also good, the franchise now has a singular big bad, an ultimate evil called Premier that the heroes will need to overthrow, the one who lords over all Radiants and, presumably, the Colossals that allowed them to exist in the first place. Now that the truth at the heart of the Massive-Verse has been unveiled, fans have a much better idea of what to expect going forward. This isn't to say that these other Massive-Verse series haven't had plenty to offer readers, but rather that the few loose ties to the franchise's overarching mythology largely served to expand upon the wider mystery at hand instead of providing any firm answers to the questions surrounding it. Beyond that, it also brings the events of Radiant Black and its numerous sister series like Radiant Pink and Inferno Girl Red into focus with a clarity that simply wasn't there before. This revelation alone turns the Massive-Verse on its head considering that it was inspired by the likes of Mighty Morphin Power Rangersand other entries into the tokusatsu genre. As such, the Colossals ended up being sealed away in Existence by the very fabric of the universe itself but even that didn't stop them from finding a way to reach beyond the veil that held their physical forms back. Much like what their cold, calculating demeanors might convey, the Colossals hail from a self-proclaimed divine order tasked with judging various worlds across the universe in the name of the Catalyst Empire. Though these Colossals have served as guides, or even mentors of sorts to their human avatars along the way, their true purpose is far darker than that. Like all Radiants, Nathan and Marshall derive their powers from coming into contact with the isolated black hole that formed their connections to their respective Colossal. ![]() ![]() Seagal essentially owns the category of laziest action star, often appearing much closer to a parody of his former self than a true martial arts master. ![]() We've witnessed this trend in the careers of countless other action stars (Wesley Snipes, Dolph Lundgren, Jean Claude Van Damme, etc.), but at least those other actors put in the effort to stay on top of their game. He then told me to leave the booth, and I persisted, lol. I told him I used Klasse and that it was a true acrylic sealant and much better than any crap he sold. He then began to make fun of me as if i didnt know what I was talking about as the people began to leave his booth. The guy began to sweat and said that he didnt see the scratches, and then I clearly point out the swirls to him and the crowd saw it. I then stated how the product still left swirls behind and there was lots of contaminants left in the paint. Two people jumped on it, and then I mentioned to the demonstrator that this product was a gimmick. But if you said kaboodle you would get it for 35 dollars. So then he said the system with the car wash, waterless car wash, and sealant was 100 bucks. Then he showed his sealant (which was thick and smelled like carnuba!) and said it was 90% wax and 10% cleaner because it was thicker and it was last 7 months! (yea right). He then showed that because the waterless car wash was thin in consistency it was 90% cleaner and 10% wax. He said all you have to do is spray it with his waterless car wash (looked like a QD) every week. The guy said your car would never have to be washed unless it was caked in mud and dirt. I then looked at the treated and untreated side of the hood, and saw no difference! Their were more swirls in the treated side and little specs(probably fallout, no it wasnt metallic paint ). He was doing his demo on a red hood and said his product penetrates through the paint and levels the surface, filling in swirls and minor scratches. I saw this guy at the car show in Providence, RI. ![]() |
